This work is a way for me to commemorate my home town of Hamilton, Ontario. Its steel producing heritage is both a point of pride and a subject of derision. I use this iconic material in combination with more traditional jewellery making metals in order to create objects which relflect this industrial past and celebrate it's post-industrial future. I invite the wearer to experience this material as I saw it growing up; as something sturdy, rough and full of character.
Constantly inspired by my own life experiences, as well as stories and thoughts from friends, family and strangers, I use abstracted yet familiar forms in order to pay homage to my time growing up in this industrial city.
